About Us

Michelle brings her first-hand experience to the ethos of fun-development.

Finding school extremely challenging, she often found herself upset and frustrated that she was unable to keep up with her friends and peers. It was her English teacher who first identified that she needed an extra incentive to complete her studies and sent her on a football course. Although this posed its own difficulties, she successfully completed the course.

Later in life, Michelle discovered she was dyslexic and also had dyspraxia. It wasn’t until she was 26 that she redid the updated football and goal keeping course, obtained her UEFA B badge, SAQ International qualifications and various other sports qualifications. Despite her struggles with academic ability, it was this deep love and passion for sport that encouraged her to carry on.

Michelle began her career at QPR Football Club and Brent Council in 2007. Her desire to spend more time coaching spurred her to start her own football coaching company that over the years evolved into fun-development.

Michelle is passionate about working with children. In addition to her sports qualifications, she has achieved training Levels 2 and 3 in Play Therapy. She also has an award in Counselling Skills for Working with Children, a Diploma in Introduction to Psychodynamic Counselling and a Level 5 Certificate in Primary Physical Education Specialism.

Fun-development believe there is nothing more important than understanding and supporting the “whole” child, nurturing the physical, mental and emotional elements that define a child’s health, character and social behaviour, allowing them to flourish. The team aim to create an environment where children feel comfortable to express themselves. They understand that children have different needs and that to address these, children need to feel safe, secure and happy. Children should be encouraged to be confident, independent, and resilient, whilst still being able to work within a team. This can be nurtured through exploration and play.

The fun-development team come from a variety of different backgrounds and have a wealth of experience in sports coaching and childcare. They are all DBS checked and First Aid qualified and hold food hygiene certificates and relevant sports qualifications. They have also had Covid-19 Awareness Training.

“Michelle was fully engaged in our son’s development. If he was having a tough day, she would call me and ask if something had changed at home.”
